Quarius - Typeface Design

Quarius is a typeface that was based entirely upon a sketch for a singular capital “Q”. The letterforms were initially inspired by Didot and the exact geometric qualities and proportions found in modern type-faces. Each letteform was approached as an opportunity to imbue the typeface with qualities of elegance and refinement. With generously open counters and a tall x-height, Quarius is intended primarily for a print destination, in bodies of copy. However, the contrast between thick and thin strokes allow for Quarius to also be used as a display font. Signature characters include the capital ‘Q’, the lowercase ‘g’, and the ampersand.
